Sky UK Limited is a UK based telecommunications company which serves customers in the United Kingdom with television and broadband internet services and fixed line telephone services to both consumers and businesses. They are the UK’s largest pay-tv broadcaster hitting over 11 million customers as of 2015.

 

The company was formed in November 1990 by an equal merger deal between Sky Television and British Satellite Broadcasting where they were called BSkyB moving on to become UK’s largest digital subscription television company. Sky UK Limited is solely owned by Sky PLC and since their initial development they have progressed from purely offering multi-channel viewing options when this wasn’t a common thing, to now offering the ability to pause TV, record TV, watch a whole host of different channels, pay per view for movies and sports event and play games among other things.

 

Sky now also now offer on-demand Internet streaming media (Sky TV on Demand), a telephone service (Sky Talk) and broadband services which includes packages such as Sky Broadband Unlimited, Sky Fibre Unlimited and Sky Broadband Lite.
